I don't know him, but this seems like the least charitable possible reading of his joke.
Like, people in LA are stereotypically obsessed with their looks and tan a lot. Seems like that's the obvious joke. Shrug.

He promoted this behavior with zaps, reactions, etc.
It's painful that I still don't think I've really seen anyone but me call out any of these people for their behavior no matter how much I keep bringing it up
a. Joke is not racist
b. Racist jokes make light of the issue which is how you disempower it. If you find a reason to be offended by something that isn’t even offensive you literally make it *more* important for no reason.
c. If you try to be offended by things you’ll always find something. 🤷🏻♂️
