It’s amazing how throttled downloading and using torrent clients is on Mac. I download one, and immediately I’m blocked “for my protection.” The only option is to move it to the Bin. I manage to bypass it from settings (not straightforward), run it, and after being warned twice that I’m in danger, I finally download a few torrents. Then I shut down the laptop, relaunch it the next day, and the client is deleted without my consent. I have to repeat the same process all over again. I can easily imagine a future where the same thing happens, but this time with self-custody wallets and node clients. Fuck this dystopian world!

try fedora silverblue. i can give you a list of must have applications, so you can do many things without touching the terminal. i can also help you pick an image for silverblue.
i switched to the silverblue because its a better experience overall. not because i wanted to escape windows. or mac.

Android phones are Linux, they use the Linux Kernel. In that regard Mac OS uses very similar kernel to the FreeBSD.
Like all the guys said Linux nowadays just works. You can trust to very high degree Linux and *BSD being freedom OSs and you the user having full control.

If this is Apple doing it and they can delete files, they can also take files from you, like a wallet.dat, or snitch on you having certain files.

The app in question is qBittorrent btw, the highest rated torrent client for Mac, allegedly.

I was a user of a really nice and slick DNSCrypt client called DNSCloak. At some point the guy had the app taken down because:
- Apple made changes so that changing DNS is done by setting a VPN profile
- And then demanded apps doing VPN require additional checks
It was just a one dev, so he was seeking a company that would legally front his app. There are services like that. Definitely in the medical app space there are.
Anyway, to encrypt your DNS using #DNSCrypt (Frank Denis' dnscrypt-proxy) you can't just write an app.
You need a legal entity and Apple permission.
