Looking at the UI/UX of #Bitcoin Inscriptions apps, such as gamma.io, it's clear that they have a superior UI/UX compared to most of the clients throughout Nostr's ecosystem. We desperately need more designers.

They pay for designers.

Embrace the good the Ordinals has brought to bitcoon 🙏.

Yelling "Ordinals bad" doesnt help move the space forward. let's acknowledge what they do right. And in the case of gamma, it's clear they have a top-of-the-line UX for bitcoin apps

Ordinals aren't bad, they're just dumb. Inscriptions aren't bad, they're just dumb. BRC-20/ARC-20/etc. tokens are a cancer.

What parts do you find superior? Does gamma’s experience depend on relay connections?

Gamma doesn't use Nostr. Maybe I can hit up the devs and see if they'd want to add a social element. It's superior to me because of the smoothness and flow of everything along with the overall design. It just looks very appealing and it's not overdone to where it hinders functionality.

It's not just design, but implementation.

As a developer, I don't care about UI/UX because I have more important things to do (functionality).

The only way that anything I build will ever have good UI/UX is if someone else takes care of it.

Nobody cares about functionality if the app provides a terrible user experience and has Windows 98 UI. Functionality and UX/UI are all equally important.

There's plenty of experienced designers out there willing to help if you're willing to listen.

answer d) all of the above

☝️this

Everything is open source. Designers are free to contribute.

Sure, I listen to them.

"Let's build a ski chalet on top of that mountain, it can have a sauna and an ice bath, we'll put a wood burner in the middle, a drying room, a small workshop for fixing skis, oh and we can paint the walls blue that will look great! I'll stay here and make sketches, you go build it."

Then it's just a matter of implementation of course....

I honestly didn't know what a complete bunch of douches normie developer types have become until joining nostr.

I'm fairly astonished by it.

People don't care about UI as much as they seem to need to think they do.

People have different skills. The architect's job isn't as physically demanding as the builder's, but without the architect the builder will struggle to build a home people enjoy living in and the home value will suffer.

Absolutely. My fiat job hired a UI UX designer for this reason, because none of our code monkey's could do it properly.

I've been saying this for a year now in relation to Nostr. Most Nostr developers don't have designers. It's just a developer and that's it. And most don't worry about it or don't have the designer eye to be able to worry about it. We have some exceptions now, but in the grand scheme of things, we need proper development and design teams consisting of more than one or two people.

This is so crap, nobody needs that. Most UIs still look like MOTIF "but in flat and maybe with rounded corners".

Little changed, UI should not get in the way that's all it has to do.

You've been using Nostr for almost a year now. You have proven that you don't care about design and are willing to use it for the tech. The vast majority of the world doesn't think like we do.

It looks mildly like MOTIF on desktop maybe….

I am really grateful for coders like you giving us NOSTR.

But in my opinion, design is not important.

I mean, look at reddit for example. There practically no design at all of you know what I mean...

I'm not sure where this myth came from.

No, apps don't "win" because of UI, and there is no magic UI configuration which will bring the "masses" the fame seekers and venture capitalists want. That kind of "winning" happens because they were first, the got famous people to market for them, they went viral for some reason, or they offer something unique.

This idea that nostr will become widely used because of perfect UI is a myth.

That all reminds me of people buying Doge coin because "the look is more appealing" 😁😂

It's not so important to have a "good" design, JUST DON'T HAVE A BAD UI / DESIGN. (Anybody remembers Windows XP design? The Bubble-design? 😄 Or vista looked like shit to if I remember correctly).

The lesser eye candy, the better. Non intrusive UI. Like your tools or in your kitchen. Just a button where a button is needed, nothing fancy and you're fine.

Have something you need looked at? Finishing up software dev college in January. Gonna be one of them designers who can code (ish). UX certified too. Ganting to design/build something 💪💪💪

a Good UI/Ux is equally important. At the end, users want a simple seamless experience. not how smoothly you work behind the scenes.

This is why inferior products often win out. The tech may not be as good, but if it looks pretty an functions well, users don't care if the technology sucks.

I can always help with some UI/UX designing in some free time. Just let DEVs know. You are the Nostr chain ⛓️ between the Devs and Designers world. Would like to work more for Sats in 2024 🫡 #v4v
