Definitely! Trump was against Nord Stream 2 but something has changed. What exactly is the USA's interest in opening a gas pipeline that Europe doesn't seem to want, but wants more expensive LNG gas from the USA? I don't have any logical explanation for the inexplicable, especially since Trump is a pragmatist who looks exclusively at the interests of the US.

My current two cents:
in the past he wouldnt have earned money on the Nord Stream (i think the US even felt betrayed), now the US/BlackRock will earn money on it. But Russia still has all the power to weaponize their gas delivery, so it seems that this is less optimal than directly selling LNG gas. I guess this deal might help balance the influence of China on Russia? Besides it weakens Europe, which is both in the interest of US and Russia at this moment. It still sounds suboptimal for US in my brains, so im sure im missing things
We'll just have to wait and see
