may be we should first make DMs work well before focusing on new NIPs… my 2 sats…
I think a dedicated DM client for Android and iOS would be great.
But at the same time I think it's kind of cool that you can accidentally reply publicly, also I also think it's cool to be able to see who is DMing who (whom?)
Part of what makes nostr cool is that it's transparent, leaky privacy could end up being the bug that breaks down walls between people.
good point.. I am pushing a build on Current App with DM and pushing notifications. we still need super private incognito secure DMs for bitcoiners to feel comfortable..!
I don't disagree about the need for privacy, I just don't see nostr ever gaining traction in this regard and I'd personally go with an architecture that is specifically designed for privacy rather than trying to shoehorn privacy into an architecture that is fundamentally transparent.
I mean, nothing against building privacy layers on top of nostr, just think there are easier ways to do it.
