Funny that this morning I woke thinking of my voice recorded somewhere online and how that can be used.

Remember the scam texts saying, "Mum, I'm stuck in .... and have lost my credit card. Can you send me some money to this friend's account?" (Or something to that effect).

Now imagine AI tool being able to speak with your voice in natural conversation style and calling your friends/family?

Plus, of course, as you suggest, even more advances in technology doing yet more damage will be horrifying.

Nostr fixes this for people who use it. I wonder if there is some counter measure that could be deployed in legitimate videos to confuse AI and cause it's output to be more obviously fake. AI still has trouble with fingers, so maybe all you have to do is keep your hands in frame?
