I may be vegan but plenty of stuff is gross to me. What you see below is not what vegans eat. These are brightly colored vegetables. This is not a diet, it's just visual marketing on a plate. There is nothing sacred about broccoli. There are more plants in the world than vegetables.

Veganism is about ethical decisions. It's about supporting industries that care about the earth and about people.

I did not purchase this meal. It contains meat but it was gifted to me. I will never turn down a free meal but I will eat around the parts which I do not like.

In this case I ate rice and noodles which contained bits of meat.

I did not contribute to animal suffering. I also tried my best not to contribute to food waste. I hope my boss will eat the vegetables because they are soggy and gross.

Looking forward to Soylent later.

Until next time.

Also this plate was $10 which is the same price for a 4-pack of ethical vegan liquid.

1600 calories that meets 80% of my nutrition goals

Versus

.... Whatever this single serving of noodles and rice with bits of pork equates to...

Whatever you still ate a burnt carcass 😝

Yes, and it never fails to make me feel unsatiated and dirty.

If nothing else, you can feed the scraps to a parking lot kitty.

Especially the meat bits since kitties are carnivores.

I only ever harp on the "not everything can have a vegan diet" because I had a friend that fed his dogs and cat a vegan diet and was confused why they were all always sick and didn't live as long as other critters.

I believe we should put as much care into studying the diets and habits of animals as we should studying the diets and habits of people. Both are important. I would never suggest someone pursue a vegan diet if it is unhealthy for them.

For instance, a snake owner will feed mice to their snakes. This certainly wouldn't be a vegan cause, but it is not my place to suggest how a snake should be handled.

At the end of the day I believe humans should not intervene with nature if it can be avoided. If we decide to stop eating animals, it means animals can eat each other naturally. Factory farming produces an imbalance of birth and death. Populations of creatures should be correlating with the natural ecology of earth. Not being forced to exist in hellish conditions and fattened to be consumed.

There is room for humans to harvest dead animals and prepare them into meals for animals we have domesticated.

I knew a vegan lady who would buy clearance meat (not expired!) and she cooked her dogs rice and meat and I am not sure what else. They were VERY healthy and VERY well behaved. One was a teenage boy and still had lots of love and energy. To me this is vegan. Her impact on the meat industry was low and did not pertain to her personal diet.

She made exceptions for salmon but she was a damn good cook. I don't believe she ate any other meat besides the occasional salmon filet for guests.
