I realized the hollowness of forced gift buying for birthday’s and Christmas many years ago and stopped completely.

Now I only buy people presents when I’m rummaging around at antique stores or thrift shops and I see a gift that has relevance to someone close to me. It feels way more authentic and I love surprising someone with a unique gift they will actually love on a random Tuesday night.

I bought my brother a mint first edition coffee table book on Nepal because he is going on a trip there in a few months. I knew it was a treasure he would love the second I saw it (he is also a bibliophile).

Got my sister a beautiful hand drawn and nicely framed antique picture of a German Short Haired pointer (the dog we had growing up). It also matches her decorative motif and she absolutely loved it.

Both delivered on a non-holiday and as a full surprise. Giving those gifts (and others like them over the years) makes me understand why the tradition of gift-giving in human cultures is so important and cherished.

Christmas more negative things than good when you start researching it.

Nothing about it makes sense.

Christians are confused about it. They got fooled into celebrating a holiday with no evidence in the bible. It has pegan roots and it's materalistic. Lying to children about a man who brings gifts.

So many other people's children are sucked into wanting to celebrate it even tho their religion states not too.

What makes it worse is that it's pretty much a mandated holiday by governments.

Gonna be hard to break Christmas tradition in someone's family as long as it's a mandated holiday.

But don't give up. Whatever reason you don't celebrate. Keep pushing.

A friend of me noticed about the name Santa, that it is Satan when you switch some letters. Am very thinking about it the last week. That everything in this world is under it's influence and is upside down.

Great to read, I am saying this for a long time and feels like I am the only one who sees it this way. Don't understand all this programmed ways. So it is really nice to see that there are more people who also see this.

Awe this is beautiful!! Gifts should only and always come from the heart. I find the gifts received on random days tend to be much more memorable and meaningful as they are given out of choice and some form of admiration. It shows that the gift giver was truly thinking about that person in the moment.

I tend to do my shopping this way. I gift gifts that I know people would love or use or that they typically wouldn’t treat themselves to. While I do still give gifts on the traditional holidays and birthdays, I do like to surprise those I care about on randoms days and sprinkle a little kindness and love along the way!

Holdilocks your seriously my favorite 😊 I just love the way you put things ... always great vibes 🙏😁
