Nostr will probably take off faster when it can market to the outside world naturally via direct linking or watermarking. Memes is one way to do it. Another through referrals, "made with" links, and of course shared social links.

Creating tools for creators will also speed things up because those people are much more receptive if they see an opportunity to earn an income.

Don't overlook easy sharing functions. People are not always going to copy / paste URLs.

A proper search function will help alot

The more of this the better to feed the viral loop

Just a matter of time…

I was thinking abour wikipedia on nostr - Nostrpedia - i'm sure someone have thought about it or created it. Long forms can be used as it can be edited.

To a user, it becomes a link that a lot of people refer to for information. To Nostr it becomes a form of marketing as well as these links will often be googled up and shared. It can also generate secondary jobs for people who want to edit information, be Nostrpedia writers etc

Not sure if this is along your train of thoughts on the above.

IMO wikipedia is out. LLMs are in.

LLMs can generate info, but there are differences between using them and a source like wiki. Wiki is a visible repository of information - users can find a wide range of topics from early childhood to experience to recognition at a quick glance. Wiki has10B views per month and I doubt it would be dying anytime soon.

LLMs on the other hand function more as search contributors. Users prompt queries to generate information. But LLMs can be customized to provide wiki-like profiles, tailoring model's responses. Many people are customizing LLMs for various applications, and turning that into startups

Search in general is out.

💯

💯 Speaking of which, I added a sharing function for listings on nostr:npub15dc33fyg3cpd9r58vlqge2hh8dy6hkkrjxkhluv2xpyfreqkmsesesyv6e a couple days ago. Updated the link previews to display the first image that comes up on the listing as well.

The more popular it gets, the more spam there will be.

Least of our worries. Spam is not a big issue. We have WoT, paid relays, avoiding global for that

What do you gain from it becoming more popular?

We gain diverse opinions, variety of conversations, better content, longer runway for developers, more people getting zapped (big one IMO).

To me, nostr is the perfect vehicle for orange pilling. Also, strength in numbers.

Wait … I’ll observe just a bit
