How many innocent people were sacrificed and how much wealth was stolen under these men?
This is a whataboutism fallacy. Their corruption being overlooked doesn't downplay the validity of another's corruption that is dealt with. Unfair maybe? Sure, but doesn't mean it's any less justified to charge and convict.
Personally, I think people should be more upset that those others got away with it rather than be upset that this one didn't.
