Nostr, we are a big community, what’s happening with nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 and nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is definitely not fair, I don’t care about the legalities(and we should even contest those).

I don’t believe I’m saying this but let’s open our Twitter app one more time. And let’s post a giant #FuckApple from the entire nostr community. Let’s catch some eyeballs. Lets let apple know we exist? Let’s do whatever we can?

From practical perspective it will not do anything to change Apple’s policies. Bigger multibillion dollar corporations kneeled before them following this policy.

Removing any mention of payments, removing nip-57, making it explicit in the TOS that no exchange of money is allowed by the application, and making it as inconvenient as possible to perform sat exchange may do the trick.

Again, we have lawyers on Nostr and in Bitcoin community who could help with the problem, and they have a better experience on this matter!

I would argue that it might feel good to say “fuck Apple !” but it’s counterproductive and won’t change a thing.

A Legal procedure is long and costly.

The only thing that one can do is to stop using Apple products and go FOSS.

Although this is a pretty difficult thing to do.

It’s not about freedom of speech, it’s about performing transactions within the app that is against the policies on Apple’s platform. Before doing potentially anything damaging and stupid, it’s best to seek legal advice. I am not a lawyer but my experience tells me that doing anything irrational may make situation even worse and more difficult. We are not in position to decide the rules of the game in the Apple house. 🐶🐾🫡

If you corner them in the public eye they will dig into their position. No need to lose good faith yet, we are still guests in their house and need to be smart about it. It’s not a government it’s a commercial organization with a lot of capital 🐶🐾🫡

No point talking about the issue. Get more people on Damus, let them get hooked, let them decide for themselves. If Apple pulls the rug from under 100M loyal app users, imagine the uproar that it will cause. 🐶🐾🫡

Zaps are the usp of nostr. Not doing something against this attack just cripples your app. Would you even use damus if you knew you could send and receive zaps on snort?

Then other clients didn’t have zaps either, other clients will implement it, this is bad for damus either ways. You’re suggesting that damus should just do whatever apple tells it to do. Doesn’t sound very censorship resistant.

I wonder if tech press/ slightly wider press picks up something like this. In a way it's good press if it does get out there and people will find a way to join (getting the app before it gets taken down, using web clients, news would also reach Android users etc etc).

Elon is such a contrarian that it might even interest him (somewhat unlikely, as it's a twitter alt, but you never know). Also I'm not pinning any hope on Elon, just to be clear, I just mean in terms of reach and implications that might affect his plans it's not out of the realms of possibility he would mention it).

I’m angry at them and will say it personally but don’t think any kind of movement is going to do any good. Prob the opposite.

Better to work within the guidelines than wage any type of war.

Use you wallet to do so! Don’t buy their products and don’t recommend them to friends and family. If it hurts Apple sufficiently, then they may listen. Otherwise it’s counterproductive and may cause more damage 🐶🐾🫡
