The new reply guy bots DO NOT represent SPAM.

The notes being generated by the bots follow the rules of the protocol!

I am vehemently opposed to ANY developer or relay operator taking ANY ACTION to censor these NOTES which clearly follow the rules of the NOSTR protocol.

You abusive DEVS and relay operators don’t believe in the ETHOS of NOSTR and are now censoring honest NOSTR users!

Fk ordinals! Long live nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze

Good morning and Happy Friday.

Bitcoin transactions and nostr events are not comparable. There is no consensus needed for a nostr event. You just soak the propoganda right up.

It’s a comparable illustration of how something can “follow the rules,” but still be viewed as “spam.”

Even though these are honest “events,” they are bad for the network and the users.

Events are not monetary transactions. I understand your comparison I'm saying it's a bad one. Advocating for any type of censorship on bitcoin's network is extraordinarily dangerous. You set a precedent that spam is just arbitrary on our monetary network. What if Democrats start saying Republican transactions are spam? Who are you to say otherwise? Relay operators have a right to censor whoever they want. Nodes do not.

I disagree with you.

As a node runner, I have “rights” and can vote with my node. As long as my vote follows the protocol rules, you cannot take away my freedom of choice.

Further, given the scarcity of blockspace, there will always be “censorship.”

Any given transaction will be included while another is excluded.

I misspoke and reconsidered that fact as soon as I made the comment. You are right. You do have the right to do what you want with your node.

Yes and that censorship should be based on fee, not the content of the transaction.

I think I'll add that I am not pro ordinals. I'm also not against them necessarily. I think they are a net neutral and they are paying for their transactions. You are free to run your node however you would like, but again you set a dangerous precedent.

Fair enough, and I also see your point of view. “Censorship” is a slippery slope.

Gm, i need more filters here. I already filter out reactions and porn. Spam is unwanted messages, that follow the rules. I think there are better tools than having apps prefilter. We have the ability here to self filter which would be my preference.

I agree, with ocean, the user of the pool has the ability to choose which block template they prefer.

Yup choice is king

I'm pretty sure I'm not filtering them. I personally wouldn't want to but I also wouldn't care if another relay operator wanted to filter. I don't think any relay should be obligated to filter or not filter. If someone doesn't like how things are handled, pick different relays or they can run their own.

I'm not doing anything. I wrote an anti-spam bot that operates according to system ethics and does not violate protocol rules. The bots will sort things out themselves 😑 Who am I to interfere in their affairs?
