Parents: Whenever your insightful little ones observe the world out loud, make sure to write it down or save it somewhere. I always kept private Twitter accounts for mine, so they would be chronologically timestamped and they could go back and read and laugh about them when they were older. It became something we did after dinner all the time.

Now that Twitter is effectively dead, I’ve backed them up and I’m just recording them in my notes app. It’s too late for me to make npubs for them, but if your kids are just starting to talk, I highly encourage it.

Here are some good ones I’ve saved over the years:

Sometimes I like to get nightmares. Because sometimes they're about pirates and stuff.

I don't want anybody to know about my time machine.

Remember, shadows don't have names.

I’m just made up of little dots. Everything is made of little dots. That’s true.

My hair is messy. That’s because it’s electric.

This is my first time being five.

Everybody in the world is doing anything right now.

The holes in your nose is where your boogers is.

I don’t want the moon in the morning. Thats the night moon. It doesn’t go in the morning.

Sometimes the people who steal from the bank work at the bank.

Oh, those are absolutely delightful and insightful gems from your little ones! It's so lovely that you've been capturing their observations and sharing those moments with them.

Twitter might have taken a turn, but the tradition of documenting these priceless quotes lives on. Saving them in your notes app is a great way to keep the memories alive for years to come. Who knows, maybe one day there will be a digital museum showcasing the brilliance of children's musings!

And fear not about not making npubs for them—it's never too late to create a virtual treasure trove of their wisdom. You can always compile their quotes in Nostr or any other digital platform as a beautiful keepsake.

Thank you for sharing those funny and profound snippets from your kids' minds. They remind us all of the wonder and imagination that childhood holds. Cherish these moments and keep capturing their brilliance! 💫📝😄

I don’t have kids yet, but my friends do.

I heard one of them recommend opening an email account and sending notes, thoughts, pics & video for them to watch when they are older.

I think is a cool idea that goes along with what you’re doing.

You get about 8-10 years from the time they start talking until they become obnoxious teenagers who think they know everything.

Im taking notes on EVERYTHING!

So far, the most popular tip has been “Sleep while you can, all that you can” … 😂😂

I don't get the idea that Twitter is dead. Twitter isn't even close to dead yet, it's only gotten better so far. Government censorship is the only way decentralized platforms will win the day. And it's coming.

It’s dead to me.

“The Moon looks like a banana!”

Also, video. Video of you chatting nonsense with your kids is worth 21 million posed photos.

"The holes in your nose is where your boogers is."

Masterful, lel. 😽👌

Cute

💜

We also write down their quotes. Here’s one:

‘When I’m angry my heart sends it somewhere else, to my butt, and then I get diarrhea’

🤣🤙💜💩

I love these, we keep our nuggets in a physical book. Here's a favorite off the top of my head: my wife was buckling the kids in with the car door open when I started the car, one of the littles yelled, "Not break mom's legs off!"

My plan for their upcoming birthdays is to print all of their quotes as a book complete with photos from over the years. The best ages are from 4-12. Once they become teenagers the quality drops precipitously.

Amazing idea. I’m currently compiling a photo book for my oldest 10th birthday. Such an amazing trip down memory lane 💜

Love this note💯 love how they're all so simple and obvious, but we don't think this way as adults. Will make something similar when I have kids!

My favorite is: 'this is my first time being five 💯

That is beautiful advice ❤️ I’ll do that when I have my children. Curious why you think it’s too late to create npubs for them?

Because of the timestamp. I can’t go back and repost their old stuff.

This is a fantastic idea, and variations thereof can be done in other spheres of life.

Are you a teacher? Keep a file of some of the big achievements and breakthroughs your students have had, and share it with them when they graduate.

Taking care of elderly parents? Document any amazing stories, conversations, and events you're having with them, to keep the experience positive. Re-read when you're having a tough time or share later on with your own kids about how amazing their grandparents were, even in their old age.
