i dont have a lot of experience in justification

as in: i havent done much reading, i dont have much lived experience here, im not familiar with the mechanics & philosophies of justification

so as an absolute n00b, im wondering aloud, does justifying one out of pocket thing tend to lead to many inevitable downstream justifications? like once the ball is rolling it is typically an avalanche? or is it more random than that? like someone is more likely to justify this one-off thing out of a sense of allegiance or that one thing over there in memory to a family member or just this one thing out of revenge? like what academic field looks at choicemaking over time?
