Some LSPs are degrading their payment reliability by allowing anyone to open announced channels to them and then not closing out, disabling, or rebalancing the problematic, low fee, unbalanced ones.

It’s fascinating to see even some of the biggest players on the graph making this mistake.

I am thankful for the big hubs that do allow me to open a channel to them.

If they all blocked my little node from opening channels, how would I connect to the LN?

You’d get most of the benefits even if they only allowed plebs to have unannounced channels w them

Routing (or at least the plasubility of it) is pretty important for privacy, you need announced channels for that

Oh I see. So what's so bad about announced channels? Bad liquidity and failed routing (for others) is my guess, but please let me know if I'm missing something.
