We still havenāt implemented a feature for users to get notifications from thread replies. Currently, users will only be notified when replied to directly.

Whatās the problem? Itās been over a year. This is a basic feature that literally makes primal unusable. nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr

Also, seeing as most users would rather only be notified when being replied to directly, this is not a priority for us.
Please stay tuned for future updates that could potentially carry this feature.
This response is total BS and is starting to seem like an excuse to just not fix the reply bug. Primal keeps shipping new features and funding shirtless men to advertise this app but it doesnāt even work properly. I literally canāt have a basic conversation with people in a small thread (3 or more people). Do you understand how much of a problem that is? Right now, if a mobile primal user responded to this note, you will NOT see it in your notifications. Why wouldnāt you want to see that? The reply could say something critical of your update and youād never know. Someone is jumping into the conversation with all of us. Thatās the point but youāll never see it if theyāre a mobile primal user. Youāll see it if youāre using damus or another client. I usually have to tell new primal users to switch to damus so they can actually engage in threads. Because weāre not all influencers, we want to see all notifications addressed to us. And if we donāt, we just mute. When they switch, it immediately improves their nostr experience. This is how people grow their follower base and find new people to engage with so they donāt have to go back to X. Thatās the point of talking publicly on nostr instead of just jumping into DMs. Why would you have a conversation out in the open if you donāt want to see other peopleās replies? Primal mobile literally degrades the nostr experience. Do you understand that? People join nostr on primal and think itās dead then leave. Well maybe they wouldnāt think nostr is dead if they could see their damn notifications! And if youāre getting too many notifications, you can just hit the mute button.
Mobile primal is the only platform Iām aware of that doesnāt support this basic feature. And yeah I know hellthreads are a problem but this bug was here before those threads became an issue and the easy fix is to just mute the hellthread. Not mute normal notifications.
And who are these users that donāt want to be tagged in a 3 person thread? Most primal users have no idea this is a problem and itās what makes primal unusable as a standalone client. I miss countless notifications on primal. I canāt use this client anymore. And you guys lose plenty of users to other clients because of this. I know because I have to explain to primal users that this bug exists and that itās on the list of things to be fixed that never gets fixed. Theyāre shocked to know how many replies they never saw and they end up switching to damus or another client. If you guys want to retain users, this issue needs to be fixed immediately.
Also you guys have been telling me that this issue will be fixed for close to 2 years now and I just donāt believe you guys are actually going to do anything about it. I really like primal and wanna keep using it but this shit is not usable. And these little AI features and new influencer studio setups are not good enough to overcome a basic bug.
Primal gets a lot of shit from the nostr community because you guys do some unconventional things but Iāve always defended primal because I think weāre all on the same team trying to grow nostr. But I donāt appreciate being dicked around. If you guys arenāt going to fix this issue, then just say so. You, miljan, and Odell said this was a priority issue that was going to be fixed. Now youāre saying itās not after nearly two years of me asking. Stop wasting my time.
Iām deleting primal until this gets resolved.
hey nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj76rfwd6zumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqgdwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkcqpqghcetnluhryhynhuyj8s2pazldjm27wl40nu6dfeskvpv09twcnsms2e9p first off thank you for all your support over the years. secondly, we really appreciate your detailed and passionate feedback. we donāt take it lightly, and we will act on it.
as for the issue at hand, i wanāt to clarify that the current behaviour is by design. we simply donāt support notifications for 2nd+ level replies. this was a a product design decision on our part. it turns out that many of our users disagree with that decision. we will prioritize adding this option in notification settings, as well as a separate option for live notifications (raised by other users). we are going to try to add these in the next update.
thanks for your patience, and keep the feedback coming! š«”
Anybody reporting frequent crash and forced closes on the iOS app? Been experiencing that regularly since the update before this latest one.
AFAIK, no.
Does the app close in response to an action you do? Are you able to reproduce it?
Unable to reproduce it. Happens randomly while scrolling, happens when expanding a note. May possibly be related to the app loading media while scrolling.
> May possibly be related to the app loading media while scrolling
Yes, that's my suspicion too. Thanks for the report, we will look at crash reports and try to get to the bottom of it.
I've been having tons of crashes in Primal on the android version recently

I recommend switching over to Jumble. Hasn't crashed once in the weeks that I've been using it. It also has a great feed curation system.
Thereās also damus android, its super stable and fast, just lacking features.
Working on getting on the appstore as we speak
Tried it. Not my cup of tea. Sorryš¤·.
I like this design feature....I have Damus and the notifications on there are sometimes a lot when I get involved in certain threads. The beauty of Nostr is it's interoperability that gives users the choice to choose where they spend their time
You could also just add the option to keep notifications the way they are or show all notifications. Most people prefer to get comfortable with a certain ux and just stick with that client for most nostr things. Optionality of nostr clients is great for keeping nostr decentralized. Iām not a dev but this is just a filter option and shouldnāt be this difficult to implement.
Thank you for acknowledging this

Looking forward to this update!
Maybe youāre completely unaware of all the naked women on here? Probably
Naked women on nostr? Never seen that before
Woof š¶: Ima retired #Army and Iāve seen more naked women on #Nostr than in my entire combined career.
Itās imperative you understand women and men typically shower separately in the military.
Did you take your meds today?
Ima drinking coffee. Meds?
Yeah I recommend anti hallucination or anti psychotic meds
Why would I care what some online random recommends? Genuinely. I reply to you with all honesty and kindness and you come back with false recommendations for whatever ** perceived ** medical issues you believe I have.
1. Do you know what I did in the #Army?
2. Why would you?
3. Or are you just a bad troll? šæ
Youāre the online random here who replied with a bark telling me about naked women go away lmao
Got it. You take * KNOWLEDGE * as a bark. Apparently we had a communication issue. NBD , from me.
1. Iāve taken on some of the most powerful men in the world.
2. You aināt shit in my lived life world.
Thatās clear , right!
Yakihonne much better for nostr OGs and newbies š¤
It looks great but I don't have nsec bunker on iOS so it's a risk I'm not comfortable with at the moment. Will definitely try it when I move to android.
Long reply threads are the bane of Nostr client devs because they're hard to implement, but I do believe that people would like to talk to the people taking the time to respond under their notes, even if those replies are nested under the direct replies. And if a sub thread really is uninteresting, to be able to mute all replies under one of your replies would be godsend.
But if Primal's primary customers really are just legacy platforms influencers, then I can see why it's not a priority. Those users typically don't want to talk to their followers, but would rather farm the engagement and the zaps. Who cares if they're not notified of people having conversations. Those aren't valuable to the influencer except to run through an AI to gain some sentiment metrics or keywords.
