As a UK dwelling pleb I could never get my head around the USA’s obsession with guns.

I now get it. When you have something to protect, you cannot rely on anyone else.

Imagine trusting the state and police to do anything other than fuck you?

I feel rather naked now 😕

I'm also a UK dwelling pleb so nice to connect here on nostr.

I know how you feel, but I've always seen the issue in multiple ways.

Your right on the protection issue, but why does someone else's beliefs influence what I can own as private property ?

That's always befuddled me ??

To get our rights back we need to come at things from the side. Get the laws on self defense and offensive weapons relaxed before we fight for the right to bare arms.

There's more I could type on this issue here in the 🇬🇧 but I don't want to bore you 😁

I hear you, but the prevailing anti-arms narratives are very strong, and most trust the state and rule of law.

As the currency debases and the incentives more favour violent crime, we’ll see more violent crime.

I’m more concerned now with my immediate options, as I can see how society will go if we don’t reverse the lunacy of inflation and ‘necessary’ debasement

Yes, I’d actually prefer everyone have guns registered to them, but when the regulations make it impossible I suppose printing is the option. I think registration doesn’t necessarily weaken 2A and brings an important use culpability aspect to ownership.

I can see where your coming from there.

What are your thoughts on milita?

I'm not sure a direct copy of the 2A would work in the UK, and I definitely would like to tie ownership with training for the reason you mentioned.

There are pros and cons to both private and state (over here that would be county) mitias.

I think the idea behind militias are solid, however any militia I have actually experienced has been populated by certifiable crazy people doing dangerous things with guns. The anarchist leanings are also thoroughly terrifying.

Buy a sword. Seriously. Any kind of long blade is formidable. What, I’m a collector!

Technically, that word be illegal here. Unless it was on a display stand or part of a martial art.

Make it so, probably no established threshold for proficiency…or just stay helpless, complaining, and afraid. It is illegal to carry concealed where I live, and the gun I carry is illegal where I live. I refuse to be any of the aforementioned things, or watch myself or my family become victims of senseless violence. Legal thresholds dampen impetuous actions, and that is good, but bottom line, stand up for what you see as necessity.

Oh I wasn't saying no, just pointing out the stupidity of my state..

I have on occasion come across the odd bit of steel with a sharp edge 😉😪

Good to hear, we have to draw the line somewhere. Bring back the guillotine!

You don't buy weapons you buy antiques that just happen to be weapons, they are exempt and they are always better made and hold thier value so you should be buying them in the first place. I own antique warclubs, swordsticks and once money allows it again will be buying a really nice katana again.

I saw a Japanese weapon that was made illegal here recently that looks almost the same as my rice knife but with a flat blade. Persumably my gardening rice knife is still exempt?...Makes you wonder if they will be trying to outlaw a pointed stick or a broken glass bottle before addressing the social issues they have in certain London neighbourhoods.

The advantage of being a gardener is access to garden tools.. 😁

But it's definitely easier for the ruling class to ban things rather than solve issues. Makes the people think they are doing something so they feel safe.

Until they aren't...😢

Ok that's decided then it's a gardener's revolt against the parasite class. No wonder I have kept all these edging shears didn't think it would morph into a small armoury 😆

I vote for you to play the role of Wat Tyler 🤣🤣

As long as the conclusion isn't the same....

🤝

Come to Shenandoah valley. I will teach you how to shoot.

Move to the countryside become a farmer problem solved. Might see if I can get one for muntjac control as we aren't allowed to kill them with our other traditional weapon the longbow.

Accidents happen... just an observation 😁

I'm currently weighing up the pros and cons of setting up a market garden with a makerspace.

The idea is to create a centre to teach self reliance skills but without the lefty eco twaddle.

I think there a market for it in the UK 🇬🇧 but it would have to be done right.

Private members club might be the way to go. 🤔

Yep, I mean, we wouldn't be a country unless we blasted the shit out of you guys.

"if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"

It’s interesting that the European perspective usually uses the word “obsession”.

If you talk to most gun owners you’ll notice that obsession is actually necessary expertise or learning since handling a gun is a very very serious matter.

This is of course outside of Hollywood gun play, which could also be why it’s considered an “obsession”.

Would you be open to relocating? Often voting with your feet is the best option.
