interesting -- on #atrpoto, you can see all of the accounts that are being labelled by any 1 labeller on any tool (but PDSLS is the best one by far - has a lot of features).

for example, in turkey, you can see the censored accounts/posts here: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:cquoj7aozvmkud2gifeinkda/labels

to see others, just find the #bluesky moderation account for that country, get the account's DID (decentralised identity) and pop it into that URL on pdsls.

for those that don't know, quick notes on labellers:

-can be setup by anyone

--> e.g. there's a "XBlock" service which lets you hide posts with screenshots from particular social networks (Reddit, Twitter, Insta, etc..) in case you're sick of seeing them all over your itmeline

-bluesky collects your general location (VIA IP, NOT GPS) to know what labels to apply automatically

-on the official bluesky app you're automatically subbed to their one (but you can fine grain the non-regional one)

-any third party app can just avoid these labellers, so someone in turkey right now (or any place that is under censorship) could use a tool like https://deer.social

BUT the main concern for now isn't some niche account being banned in turkey, but it's the power that bluesky have.

that's why there are big wants from users (at least more technical ones) wanting other companies/people to host more AppViews.

AppViews are what Relays feed. Relays search across all the PDSs (where the user's content is -- easy to self host too) and then processes it to be easier to read for apps.

for now, bluesky is only applying those labels to those accounts from the regional labellers, but what if in future turkey's gov finds out people are circumventing that? then they might want to dig further down and request bluesky remove them from the *AppView layer* - this would affect most apps that are just connecting to Bluesky's official AppView.

so yeah, pretty small thing for now, but it's the first main showcase of censoring on bsky imo, and i think it's important that we see these issues now, so more 3rd party Relays and AppViews can be setup in case Bluesky as a company goes bad in the future.

Can you create (aka vibe code) a simpel web site that aggregates everything that bluesky currently censors per location?

was this their plan from start? to setup these labelers, one for each country, and use them to comply with governments while hiding what actually happens?

don’t think so, the accounts are fairly new, I’m assuming it was pretty much required of them or they’d have a whole app ban

so you're telling me they didn't expect they would get such orders from governments?

I had a look at deer.social and that looks like where all the retards went to.
