This is very interesting. I love the idea that 3 days of dry fasting is enough to activate all the good things 🙂. I was planning on trying one of those when our weather cools down a bit.

I'm definitely not yet at the stage that I can decide to fast intuitively but that sounds very cool.

Even though you had no issues to heal, did you notice benefits? I was pleased by my energy and mood surge after, and I like to think that the fasting was a mini system-wide clean up and the surge was an indication of that.

I tend toward lower carb anyway (carnivore but with some dairy and fruit, basically) so skipping the fruit a day or two before seems like a good idea.

Fasting in general is so good for the body ♥️

It gives it time to clean up all the old cells and repair them.

I did a lot of research into fasting about 3 years ago, and I can't remember everything 😅

Your body will adapt to fasting the more you do it and you will enter ketosis quicker as well 🎉

So don't give up, try it a few more times and see if the energy deficit gets better 👍

Healing:

I used to have lower back problems about once or twice a year, which my doctor told me are inflamed nerves that just sometimes "snap" and start sending pain signals until they recover...

These use to last 4-5 days and make moving and sitting very painful 😣

After I read about sugar causing inflammation, and how fasting reduces it and repairs cells, I had to try it 😄

In the last 3 years I tried to be as keto/carnivore as possible, but I do fall off the wagon a lot because of travel or family events 🫣

As soon as I feel a little discomfort in my back, I'm doing a 3 day fast, mostly dry or 2 day dry + 1 day water fast at the end of I get thirsty.

Haven't spent 5 days in bed since 🥳

I also do 23h water fasts basically every day with my OMAD schedule, which should trigger autophagy after about 16h if the meal was sufficiently low in carbs.

In general I feel great and it's so simple if you just have to cook once in the evening.

Steak, eggs and butter mostly 🫡

Sounds amazing! I would love to do OMAD and actually tried that for a while, but I definitely have a jump in cortisol with that schedule that I'm not sure is great for me, and it's hard for me to eat enough at one sitting. I think women have to be a bit more careful about that messing with our hormones, and in any case I probably will get more return from moving more in the carnivore direction (generally, the more carnivore I am, the better I feel).

Oh yeah, hormones might be a thing to look out for 🤔

Animal fat is very important for hormone production, so getting enough of that is important

You could try eating windows that get smaller over time.

Like 18:6 or 20:4 maybe 😇
