OpenSats is 100% pass through, we do not take a cut of donations, period. This is incredibly rare in the non profit world. Our nine person board has not and will not be paid a single sat.

Gigi is paid to run the org full time. The money for that was paid by a single donation for that specific stated purpose. He has rebuilt our processes from the ground up and made everything much more efficient.

All funds are provided to open source projects that apply and are approved by board vote. The board is intentionally nine people to reduce the impact of individual bias. We operate on simple majority. If there is a conflict of interest between a board member and a project they are expected to recuse themselves.

We will be releasing transparency reports and updates as funds are allocated. Understandable that some are frustrated with the speed of deployment but we are moving as fast as responsibly possible. Over the last two months we have announced nearly thirty grants. More will be announced soon.

Awesome!!!

Wow. This is amazing, actually. No wonder I've been seeing so many people drawing attention to this lately.

Giving equal chance for everyone is great thing. Something that my generation did not have. And doing all of that free is remarcable. Hope it will go on for generations to come. KudosπŸ€™

Good work for the ecosystem πŸ‘.

Thank you for all y'all are doing.

It's like the first nostr trusted federation. Cant wait till it runs chain software too...

nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx Thanks for the update. I applied but I’m having a bit of trouble in knowing the level of detail that you require to describe the project. My first application was rejected, maybe because all I did was to send a link to a GitHub repo and nothing else (so, understandable). Would it be possible to put on your site some more details of what and what not should we describe? I never applied to a grant, so I really have no idea. Should we give a time table with goals and expected time to complete? Should we include a budget? And if yes, is the budget based on what? An hourly rate for the average software programmer where we live? The title of my project is β€œNostr client and relay is a C++ engine that allows to build Nostr applications for command line, desktop or web.” My goal is to build the reference C++ for #nostr and to built an iOS client similar to Twitter. But this will require probably one year or two of work. I will do it anyway, grant or not, because, for me this is just something fun to do. But it would nice to get paid if the project is useful to someone. Thanks again 🫑 nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m https://github.com/pedro-vicente/nostr_client_relay

The GitHub repo has a file BUILDING.md that explains how to build the software. For those who just want to try the binaries, this link has executable for Windows, Linux, Mac (these clients display JSON only as of now) https://pedro-vicente.net/nostr/nostr.html

Press on and don’t give up.

Build what your believe it.

So what you love.

Right on πŸ€™

Excellent work!

Lol

This is nice, shouldn’t there be a section for nostr grants?

This is why I happily split 10% of my podcasting 2.0 streams and boosts with nostr:npub10pensatlcfwktnvjjw2dtem38n6rvw8g6fv73h84cuacxn4c28eqyfn34f Now all I need are more listeners. Slow and steady with thebitcoinmuse.com

And you use OpenSats funds to fund your Ten31 investments. Nothing wrong with that, but it is worth mentioning for transparency (some conflict of interrest) nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx
