Yesterday evening I was talking about Nostr to some friends, explaining how free is this place, no ads, no cookies that profile you for selling something. The only answer they give to me was: “cool til the inventor will sell the entire project to someone”
In your opinion what could be the best answer to that sentence?

The 'inventor' doesn't even own the 'project'
Nostr is an open, permissionless protocol, that is a door that cannot be closed once opened.
Twittr used to be an open API with a permissionless client development front. That changed when shareholders forced them to close up and monetize, the difference is Twittr have a central server, the Nostr does not
The inventor literally published this as free open source software and it belongs to the public. He couldn’t sell it if he wanted to at this point.

Nostr is a protocol like the internet. Nobody can sell “the internet”

Nostr can't be sold because nobody owns it, as simple as that. People are cynical because they have been disappointment so many times they can't trust in nothing anymore. Many of us used to be like that before discovering bitcoin.

I guess whenever they understand what a protocol is they won't have these questions anymore. Maybe tell them it is like RSS. Can the inventor of RSS sell it to someone?

Does Nostr have a social group chat function like WhatsApp or signal yet? If so - that’s a great way to encourage people to start using Nostr. Then they can experience the difference and the benefits.
