The fall harvest is closing in at the homestead

Pawpaw, hops, mushrooms, autumn olive, cannabis and more. I'm looking forward to picking, preserving and preparing the harvest into all sorts of tasty drinks, smokes and meals.

I've been finding more and more to forage in the fall too. Not just at the homestead but all around the neighborhood. Most people are happy to have someone come help clean up their lawn. Win; win.

The cannabis is starting to reveal its beauty but it will really be showing off in a week or two. All the crosses have expressed pink pistils, which is exactly what I'm after!

There's a chill in the air today setting my tune to the vibe of autumn. What fall produce are you looking forward to?

Gorgeous autumn olives. What do you make with those? I can't grow enough to do more than just eat them fresh off the bush.

Right now, we just eat them fresh. I've dehydrated some and those go well in oatmeal. This particular autumn olive is exceptional, prolific fruit set with very large sweet berries, not astringent or sour. I plan to propagate it this winter.

I haven't started looking for them yet. Probably in the next few weeks I'll be looking for them
