I would say 1+. Things are collapsing a lot faster than I expected. Not sure if you've been watching the news lately, but border issues are getting WAY out of control, they're also talking about another lockdown within just a week. I could go on 🤷♂️. Bottom line is: all they can do is print money. They can't fix inflation. It's too late. Just take a look at the debt clock. Only a fool would disagree. Desperation is already beginning to take effect in major U.S. cities. Violent crime rates are already rising, and people are fleeing cities, etc. Of course, this is just a personal opinion.

I get that. But these folks whom are vested in the status quo have positioned themselves over the last 5+ decades in such a way that they have several different means by which they can kick the ball down the road. Yes, the road is shrinking from a 6 lane highway down to maybe 2 lanes. But they have a few more tricks up their sleeve. It would be nice if it happened sooner. But note sure it will.
Yea, I agree. They definitely have a few tricks up their sleeve. But, to me it seems like they're not fully prepared for whatever "black swan" events may occur. They certainly weren't prepared for bitcoin. Idk. Too many unknowns.
There is another matter that's been bothering me a bit. Nostr does have the potential to have a big effect on data distribution but it can't just be a copy of Twitter or IG or whatever. It has to move beyond that and it has to build a more influential network. I'm not sure that creating a decentralized copy of all the legacy social media platforms is the right way to approach such an issue. Also, they can't remain the most popular clients. We already know that you can build clients that possess a wide array of use cases, and that's good, but they're not being utilized enough in the real world.
I think I get your point. Let me know if I'm off base.
Nostr as we are currently using it, is merely a promotion and marketing approach to a new tool. The clients are using a format and architecture that we are already familiar with.
True value and innovation will be when #nostr is one component of a larger solution that solves many problems.
Satoshi leveraged the work of past cryptographers and the cypherpunks to innovate Bitcoin.
I expect something similar to take place over time with nostr, clients, value transfers, and likely many new, unforseen contributions.
Or maybe I just consume to much Jeff Booth content.
Time will tell.
No, you're on point. 👍
Impossible to know, but I think it might be only 5-10 years. There’s the saying that there are decades when nothing happens and weeks when decades happen, and it feels like we’re close.
There’s also the idea that if you were to put a drop of water in an empty Lake Michigan and double it every day, it would fill within a few weeks, but a just few days before it was full, it would still be almost entirely empty.
In other words, when thinks go exponential, it takes very little time to go from one state to another.
Kicking the can down the road isn’t linear. They are shrinking the road at an increasing rate as they do it too.
Just my opinion, though, I admit thinks have held up (or whatever you want to call the current state) for *much* longer than I had expected in say April of 2020.
“Things” not ‘thinks”
My brain is now configured for grammo auto-corrects bc of #Nostr
Honestly, you could be right. So much has happened in just the past two weeks; things I didn't expect to see for at least a few months. But, who knows?!
"a decade when nothing happens and a week when decades happen." I love it. Poetry to my ears.
I just wanna say that if it really does happen that soon, then I'll take that as a sign that God truly does exist.
