Undermining the control enabled by CBDCs is a higher priority than any form of Bitcoin puritanism. Telling people to use a different money is akin to telling them to speak a new language. It requires a lot of mental effort & most won't see the point until it's too late. If we can get them on our infrastructure but still speaking fiat, we keep their options open. People who use CBDCs will be trapped. The point is to promote trap avoidance as much as possible.

For the masses you don't care about, sure. But for everyone you care about, you don't want to show them how to jump from the fire into the pan when you can show them how to jump off the stove completely.

If the pan will give them time to jump again to a better place tomorrow, & they just aren't going to go the whole way in a single leap from the fire no matter what anyone says, then it's still better. But no, I'm not promoting or recommending tether. I just understand that the existence & development of tools around tether it is good for us given the number of people that are likely to otherwise be trapped & manipulated or weaponized with financial incentives. Imagine how much worse covid would have been if there had been a monetary reward for obeying the govt, or even for reporting people who refused to get jabbed. What if people's bank accounts could be cut off until they complied? They were already freezing money & seizing accounts of Canadian truckers. You think that isn't the future with a CBDC? There are absolutely degrees of evil & LN tokens are far less evil.

Fyi, they already had monetary incentives for complying. In NY they paid you to take the jab.

I think I agree with you, but also I don't think a CBDC is much worse than what we have today. Our governments have much more power than they are using today and they don't need a CBDC to turn up the heat.

That's why I think we need to get at least one leg off the stove completely as soon as possible because IMO one leg on the pan is not going to help when they turn up the heat however they go about it.

Yes, stable coins might teach you self custody, maybe, unlikely though. It may sever your identity from your wealth too, but considering what it's backed by and that it's backing could be criminalised, that wealth can become nothing before you have a chance to do anything about it.
