I don't think so. It's just a question of people not being interested in bitcoin, but when then check out Nostr bitcoin is absolutely unavoidable. If you don't find bitcoin, bitcoin will find you. There's no escape.

Would you stay around if you found a new social network protocol but everything on it was people discussing Warhammer 40,000 and there was no way you could escape it Warhammer 40,000 no matter how you tried?

Yeah I get what you're saying but I think it still ties back to what people expect in a social network nowadays, which is near-immediate satisfaction upon arrival.

Agreed it's impossible to avoid btc convos regardless though, which makes switching to nostr hard and retention even harder

Yup, feels like if other communities are to take root it'll have to be in a space where they are fully insulated from the hyperbitcoin community here, as in a technical barrier. Maybe even a soft fork.

All the bitcoin talk on Nostr is a turn off. I try to keep my following feed to what I want to see, and so far it's tolerable.
