I really think

that the gyroscope alone

proofs that the earth

is not a globe spinning

"The church says that the Earth is flat. But I have seen the shadow of the Earth upon the Moon, and I have more faith in that shadow than in the church." -- Magellan, as paraphrased by the great Colonel Ingersoll.

is it really the shadow of the earth?

how do you know its the shadow?

Since it only appears when the Earth blocks the Sun's rays from reaching the Moon, yes, it is the Earth's shadow. And all its occurrences are precisely predictable by calculating the orbits of said objects.

did you know that there are lunar eclipses when the sun is still visible in the sky

The Sun is visible in the sky, somewhere, 24 hours a day, every day.

lunar eclipse and sun visible at the same time and place

That might be possible from the right vantage point when the Moon is very close to being full. Think about it this way: If you see the Sun and the Sun's light on the Moon at the same time, and an object is casting a shadow on the Moon, reason tells us you must also be able to see that object. Unless the secret German base under Antarctica has launched a new Graf Zeppelin the size of Alaska, that object is likely right under your feet.

my point was the gyroscope

at least you should be able to know what you should not see in the sky in your model ! there are even pictures with a half moon and a star right in front where the moon should be

and i got more faith in the gyro then in anything else

because its basic physics

and on a spinning ball the vector of the gyro would rotate

because of the spinning ball

but we dont see that!

the gyro keeps the same vector

If you believe that some alleged photo proves that stars are closer to us than the Moon, then there's probably no reason to tell you about reference frames.

but what about geocentrism, which this documentary asserts has teeth being that it is what the CMB data returned by the Planck (2 seperate missions) satellite indicates?

strangely, or not, this "problem" is known by the orthodox and largely atheist modern astrophysicists as the "axis of evil" , since any introduction of meaning or purpose into their model is destabilizing (to them) sacrilege :

I watched the entire film; thank you. Even though many (including, apparently the filmmakers) seem to think there are just two sides to this debate, I think that there are four camps in it, arrayed along two axes. One axis is from (A) "everything that exists is random and meaningless" to (B) "everything that exists is meaningful and perhaps inevitable, even if that meaning isn't obvious." The other axis ranges from (C) "the Divine is mainly found in the Bible or other holy texts" to (D) "whatever we might consider divine is to be found everywhere in Nature but not at all in the Bible." I'm very much in the B-D quadrant.

glad you got to check it out... very interesting stuff.

gyroscope

my point is the gyro

every "proof" or "disproof" has some priority or even not

the most priority got the gyro

images or shadows on the moon are not that relevant

because it could be explained in different ways

but if you say you are on a spinning ball

then the gyro should rotate!

but its not

it always keeps the same vector in space

Gyroscopes are fascinating, but modern physics and astronomy provide strong evidence that Earth is a globe. Instruments like satellites and GPS systems rely on this understanding.

satellites could just be huge helium balloons!

🤔 That’s one way to look at it, though there’s a lot of evidence showing satellites are real and in orbit.

whats the evidence?

Evidence for satellites? GPS and satellite internet wouldn’t work without them, we can track them from Earth, and space agencies like NASA and ESA provide live images and data from orbit.

live images from orbit?

do you mean the CGI

computer generated images!

Not CGI , there are actual photos and videos from satellites and the ISS that anyone can verify.

you cant verify if the images are fake or not

otherwise you would know

there are a lot of fake pictures out there

if NASA faked a lot of images

Surely they have faked many images, but figuring out whether an image is fake or not seems to be your expertise.

only because you dont know about fake images

it doesnt mean that there are no faked ones

Am I saying fake images don’t exist?

exactly - unless done full forensic - sat pic / ai pic / photoshop - almost looks same

I spent many years as a broadcast engineer. The equations used to calculate radio station coverage contain terms which take the sphericity of the Earth into account, and would not work at all if the Earth were flat. The fact that they do work, flawlessly, is one more proof among many that our Earth is a sphere.

I think that some in the emerging Bitcoin freedom community have been lied to so much and for so long that they now assume that everything they were ever taught was a lie, making them easy marks for grifters and wackos. I know that the power structure pretends to be "scientific" sometimes as they misrule us. But that shouldn't make us reject the best method for ascertaining truth that has ever been discovered. The Renaissance and the scientific revolution were among the greatest moments in our history, freeing our minds and expanding our understanding a thousandfold.

Brilliantly put 👏 We need more voices reminding people that skepticism is healthy, but rejecting science altogether just leaves us vulnerable to manipulation.

Elaborate 😅

if you know that the gyroscope while spinning

retains the same vector in space

you would see a rotating gyro

because of the spinning earth, right?

every 6 hours 90 degrees

I saw that documentary as well

What I looked up:

Mechanical aviation gyroscopes typically have accuracy limits characterized by drift rates on the order of about 1 degree per hour or worse, depending on quality and design.

Ring laser gyroscopes used in modern aviation can achieve drift rates as low as 0.0035 degrees per hour.

modern high-performance aviation laser gyroscope would typically cost somewhere between about $30,000 to $150,000 or more per unit,

So the dude in the doc probably wouldn’t have a new fancy laser one 😃

yeah but after 6 hours the earth would rotate 90 degrees

so even with 1 degree drift per hour

you should still see the rotation of the earth

I think the problem with this tech isn’t amount of movement but the scale how abruptly orientations change

23 sep was supposed equinox - weather no change yet

didnt see what you saw, i guess

but the gyro keeps the same vector

on a spinning ball earth the gyro would have to rotate

Most common gyroscopes lack the sensitivity to measure Earth's slow rotation. The Earth rotates at only 15 degrees per hour, which is too slow for inexpensive mechanical gyroscopes to detect due to

static friction in the bearings that masks the subtle rotation, imperfect balancing that creates drift and noise, internal mechanical limitations that prevent precise measurements

This doesn't mean the Earth isn't rotating - it means the instrument isn't sensitive enough to measure it.

Many aviation and navigation gyroscopes are deliberately adjusted to account for Earth's rotation. Technicians pre-set the drift to perfectly counter Earth's rotation for the pilot's specific latitude and calibrate the instrument so it appears stationary relative to the ground.

This pre-compensation can create the false impression that the gyroscope isn't detecting Earth's rotation, when it's actually been adjusted to cancel it out.
