Only if there's is no option of another hardware wallet.

A friend purchased a Ledger Flex and it jogged my memory about some negative reviews about ledger hardware products. I am trying to get to the bottom of the negative noise before I offer any feedback.

They introduced a feature, by which your seed phrase could be restored if lost. Which is dangerous, because they have a possibility then, to access your seed phrase.

So, I believe, rather a ledger than no hardware wallet, but better another hardware wallet.

Thank you.

Ledger devices haven’t been compromised, so that kind of speaks for itself.

Ledger had some customer data compromised a few years ago, but it didn’t affect their devices, which have been rock solid, imvho.

Thanks for this! Cheers.

Thank you for the zap 🧡

Nah

Care to elaborate?

Entropy is free.

Randomly generating your own public/private keypair is not hard; but is the most important part. Learning how to build and use a device like a seedsigner in an air gapped way is much better than trusting your entropy and seed storage to a prefab device, especially if that hardware physically connects to your computer or touches the internet in any way whatsoever.

Not to mention they have additional software running on their hardware for crypto coins increasing their attack vector.

Best thing to do; is keep a cold key as cold as possible from start to finish.

Thanks for this, all the best 🙂

NO.

Care to elaborate?

They had a major data leak a few years ago resulting in threats to personal security of all their customers at the time. That and also I don’t believe their wallets are totally open source/are open to manipulation from Ledger themselves
