I fell asleep at the wheel once driving from ny to Florida. The shoulder bumps woke me up thankfully. But I ended up swerving across all of the lanes on the highway, recorrected it so that I then went across the lanes again, went down into the grassy shoulder and settled the car there. My hands were shaking but I kept my cool thankfully because I consider myself a good driver. Sleep caught up to me then, and since I will never underestimate the power of the body wanting to sleep when it needs it. There were also no cars around thankfully which was amazing considering it was 2pm in the afternoon. Could have been a nascar kind of accident.

ah yes, the "overcorrection" after nodding off...

only i drove into a culvert by a driveway, smashed the windshield with my shoulder and ended up sitting on the passenger side floor. I was ok, but totaled my vw rabbit.

Fuckkkk I’m sorry dude I’m glad you’re okay though.

no worries. happened yrs. ago.

Yeah never drive tired. 🧡

Absolute stealth killer

Yeah it's very bad. People act as if sleep is not necessary. Those people are stupid and they die early.

And they go all "Stop complaining about insomnia, if you were tired, you wouldn't be tired every day!" Like GFY shithead it was a real problem!! So happy I can sleep enough nowadays that I know the secrets of my circadian rhythm.

Exactly! Everything in nature follows a rhythm - ebb and flow, work and rest, seasons of growth and pause. Without rest, there’s no energy to keep going. It’s essential, not optional.

Humans weren’t meant for the 24/7 ‘hive’ thrumming type life. I knew of someone who is like that and then recently ran into them after about 6months. They looked like they’d aged two years or something. I did double takes confirming when I last saw them.

So sad

You can tell when people age only 2 years?

I hate people who refuse to respect reality.

No need to hate though, they will get what’s coming to them naturally from their actions / decisions 🤞🏼

Very early indeed.

I think they also missed out on enjoying the time they were awake and yielding a true reward for putting sleep on back burner thereby burning their candle on all ends.

Sometimes people don’t learn the lesson until it’s too late. Sleep should never be overlooked.

Correct. :/
