PHP is the easiest language to read. All other languages are gobbledygook.

Except SAS/R, COBOL, and Fortran.

It had to be said.

Python is usually pretty readable. SAS is one of the worst languages of all time

Love SAS.

Python wishes it were PHP.

they all wish they compiled and ran as fast as Go

but they don't, and can't, because Go was built by the most galactic brainz in language dev in the world

"But garbage collection bad"

Compilation is overrated.

it's really not

latency is the main reason, if your task is throughput and not latency then ok

Isn’t SAS kinda dead or dying?

SAS is the COBOL of analytics. It won't die until the dinosaur companies still using it do.

I miss COBOL and endless paper needle printers.

It's all been downhill from there.

Hmm that makes sense. So expensive!

you haven't read much Go code then i guess

oh yeah, many devs pollute Go with excess words and make it noisy but it can be easily made more concise and noise-free

my biggest problem with programming languages is seeing text that doesn't actually mean anything

a bracket, ok, fine, good... but 15 characters that basically represent a bracket, not cool, bro

php is an interpreted wrapper around C. It wasn't even OOP until v5+ iirc? Therefore you're saying C is easiest to read XD

Came here to say this.

And then there’s all of the C-like languages in existence that are a hairs breath away from PHP syntax.

COBOL > All. Paid my mortgage for years

I didn't know that anyone around even knew what Fortran was. I studied Fortran in college.

What about Ada? I've found it to be the easiest (when variables are properly named, according to Ada convention).

Haven't tried it, yet.

It's so easy to read that even DOD brass can understand it. 🤣
