To have a better world, we must abandon the idea that growth is a good indicator of anything.

The higher a country's GDP, the more respected it is internationally.

Nobody cares how well its citizens live and whether they are happy and feel free.

The higher the company's year-on-year profit, the more attractive it is to investors.

Nobody cares if the goods it produces, or the services it offers, bring real value and contribute to improving the quality of people's lives.

This has to change.

What are you advocating?

Good question. I am not sure that I have capabilities to propose any solution.

I just think that this is wrong and harmful approach.

The higher the GDP, the higher the standard of living in a country.

The higher the energy consumption, the higher the GDP.

These are facts.

What we need is more cheap energy. ⚡

High standard of living doesn't necessary mean well-being and happiness.

USA is top one in GDP and at the same time is on 15th place worldwide in highest suicide rate per 100000 citizens.

I've just picked first indicator that came to my mind which could be correlated with overall happiness. I'm not saying it is the best one.

- will be the driving force of the 21st century
