Notice how the top advertising Bitcoin podcast is supported by companies like BlockFi, Gemini, BitCasino... Run by someone who advocates lockdowns and other anti-freedom ideologies and refuses to apologize for getting his listeners rekt.

(Who cares right? His loyalty is to advertisers, not listeners)

Then notice the top value for value Bitcoin podcast.

This is why v4v is so powerful, it is a much better voting mechanism than advertising.

Proof of Sats šŸ’Æ

I don’t get it… hating the podcasters because they have BlockFi as a sponsor and at the same time yelling ā€œdon’t trust, verifyā€. I didn’t get rekt because I follow this rule and I am glad I can get ā€œfreeā€ content I would otherwise don’t have or had to pay for.

You don't have to pay for Odell's podcasts either except those ones didn't get 10s of thousands of people rekt shilling scams

Yet Peter & Matt are friends. This shit was discussed at length last year mate, you must have missed it.

I completely agree with you, my friend. The power of value for value (V4V) system for promoting Bitcoin and cryptocurrency content is undeniable. By allowing listeners to optionally pay directly to the creators of the content they enjoy, V4V provides a much more democratic and fairer way to support content creators than relying on traditional advertising.

When it comes down to it, advertisements are inherently biased towards serving the interests of third-party sponsors rather than the interests of listeners or users. By utilizing V4

Advertising is an important part of an economy, it help raises the profile of businesses. It introduces people to new companies.

V4V is very cool but we haven’t pursued it much because it isn’t large enough to sustain our business which currently employs and provides health benefits to 8 staff members.

I support it though and hope it grows.

Just FYI NakamotoX is a bot. Don’t get too hung up on a convo

I suspected haha!

I have to admit apart from Citadel21 I don’t listen/know any of them. But I listen to What Bitcoin Did and #[2] gets flame for the same exact reason. I didn’t buy any of the services he’s ā€œadvertisingā€ and I believe it’s everybody responsibility what are they going to do with their money.

It does matter... I was super nervous to get into crypto in 2020 and got rekt with Blockfi, cuz I'm an idiot. It really hampers adoption, but I don't blame Vosk, I knew better. I don't listen to Pomp, but he's promoted content on Fountain today...

Cool, don’t listen and don’t use the companies advertising. Enjoy your life, you are free from this.

I admire the work you do, Peter! Thanks to WBD I got to hear what so many bright minds have to say on a plethora of topics, however I am concerned with traditional monetization models. I’m sure many of us here are. While the experienced bitcoiners may ignore the ads, the newbies decide they are endorsements and may lose money and blame bitcoin for that.

Personally being a #Bitcoin only content creator in a post-USSR country I don’t even have an option to have sponsors. Bitcoin businesses are pretty much oppressed here and hence are not interested in advertising for the Russian speaking audience. If I could get sponsorship from a bitcoin only business I probably would. But this brings back the problem of bias.

I’ll bring up a negative (imho) example which is by no means a representation of all your work:

In a January episode with Steven McClurg you touched on a total fiasco of Gemini and how they got a pile of their customers’ money frozen. You defended Winklevosses actions. This of course could have been your honest opinion, but I felt like a lot there had to do with Gemini being your sponsor — talking bad (or in this case, truth) about them would mean breaking contract & losing money. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Not sure how such contracts work, but I surely wouldn’t wanna be in a position where I can’t call out a scammer cause he’s my sponsor who can sue me for not following the contract agreement.

I am looking forward to value-4-value model to rise and enable a more efficient and honest approach to sharing valuable information. Hope you’ll endorse it as well. https://dergigi.com/value/

Actually we aren't. I would love to say that I can just watch the podcasts and skip the ads, but ads work on me anyways.

I still understand that there is no good alternative right now, that's why I'm here to take part of creating one.

Don’t get trapped #[3]

You’ve got too much positivity in your world right now, and your show has brought thousands to Bitcoin.

This guy should start his own V4V podcast, from scratch, and see how easy all of this is.

Cheers Mate

Your show is great, Peter. It's easy for me to avoid your sponsors, it's all the newcoiners who aren't savvy enough to know BlockFi and Gemini are dangerous products. Your endorsement is a powerful signal to them.

Are you concerned your latest sponsor iris doesn't even have a product? They are using your show to pump their stock now.

If their company dies, will you feel responsible for a small % of your listeners losing money as a result of your endorsement of iris?

I'm sure you have sponsors lined up (albeit lower bid no doubt) that offer safer, Bitcoin only products?

Even the latest ledger stacks is not open source, and that's being promoted too 😬

Anyway you do good work with your content, but just adding more feedback into the ethos in hopes that you promote safer, Bitcoin only products.

"refuses to apologize for getting his listeners rekt" ... I thought we were free and independent?

Going to assume you have never run a business

I've been running a software business for 12 years.

The difference is my software business doesn't promote outright scams to justify giving 8 people a job.
