Slow down and meditate on what your friends are saying. Embrace inefficiency. Internalize, invent, understand, remember.

Who is the author of The Shallows that you read?

Nicholas Carr

Grabbing a copy. Thanks

The whole internet worked like this in the 90s on my 28.8k modem

Minus the gpu-intensive background animation I'll warrant

Cool.

SlowNostr, we need it.

Realized I forgot to say where you can try this out, zephyr.coracle.social

I love this concept. It's a lot of extra work to filter out distraction everything anymore and life doesn't need to be that way.

I love the concept... and yet, I listen to podcasts at 2x and want the fade transition to speed up on Zephyr πŸ˜‚

I guess I'm hopeless.

That's exactly the idea! Same here, waiting three (3) seconds for the buttons to appear is viscerally painful.

Puts things into perspective - everything is so fast, that I just skim, brush over the words of others, and that maybe I don’t really take the time to think while I’m reading.
