It’s a peninsula in the middle of the ocean— so the hotter it gets on the mainland, the more cool air is pulled in from the ocean air. It’s nature’s air conditioning. It’s the fog that swoops down over twin peaks like soft little kitten paws. We call it Karl. And there’s even an app-for-that. Karl shows the weather in SF delineated by neighborhood because yes in fact we also have microclimates— another SF phenomenon. July is our coldest month. And September is the hottest. It doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t favor tourists. It’s just the way it is.
