default zap messages misses the entire point of the zap comment field. It was supposed to be a way to add zap replies.

I was wondering about this! Zap replies makes much more sense! Will love to see this change. Can it be made or everyone has settle for the default?

It was but we had to remove it because of the appstore. May add it back since i think we were overly cautious about it
That would be awesome. I was going to post the following and tag you for additional info:
“When zapping, if comment added decision to add comment as response post
- If no, then normal zap
- If yes, then response post has additional information displayed showing the post is a comment within a zap of x amount
(Saves time for the zapper two steps at once)
Highlights the zapper is willing to spend money with words, encouraging more posting and followers for zapper
Probably some other benefits…if onlyzaps is enabled this adds a better process for those weaning themselves from “likes” like myself

yes, really. i didn't onboard a single ios user on primal and never would. 1. you are literally forced to use the built-in kyc wallet and have no other option (oh yea you can just enter some garbage in there. i guess it's funny until strike freezes your wallet and demands your real identity). 2. i don't want the fucking caching server. 3. there's really nothing which makes this client special. Seriously, where does all the money go 😂
I think you have some misconceptions about primal, almost the entire last 2 years I was the only developer of the primal iOS app, and nostr:nprofile1qqsdmxucnhl9uzzq4yjn3ulflp8kwnjlz74styewlwktfk8xeyzlxqs7hl7fu was our only backend dev. We also support other wallets in android and will likely support them in iOS at some point as well.
If I may toot my own horn here, Primal iOS has the best long form reader of all nostr iOS apps, has one of the best feed experiences, is the only client with a built in wallet which is something noobs really appreciate, and doesn’t really fall behind other clients on kind 1 features.
And all that was built from scratch by just two devs in about two years, me on the front end, and Pedja on the back. That’s exactly where all the funding went, and if I may say so myself we have built a lot for just two guys. Maybe you don’t know how much one dev can do in two years, maybe you don’t know how much one dev costs for two years, or maybe you just don’t know how much funding Primal got, but asking where the funding went is personally insulting when I know where the funding went (it went to me) and how much stuff I built for that amount of money.
Let’s compare who built what and for how much money in the same timeframe, I can guarantee that I was more efficient than 90% of other nostr devs.

What does this mean? Does it mean you need to zap in order to leave a message? So it means there would be two reply tabs? one tab full of replies that anyone can reply and the other tab full of replies that required a zap?
That would solve the spam problem. I've always said that eventually every reply should require a Satoshi or a fraction of a Satoshi. This system would destroy spammers, scammers bots freeloaders.

It does seem more obvious to use them as replies when you’re boosting in nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 Maybe it’s just the way it’s presented in the UI?
Suggest including a ‘zap amount field’ in the reply and have the option to sort reply’s by most zapped (including zaps to your reply from other zappers) to least zapped.
Or zap DMs? Or a zap and the comment decoupled?
Private zaps are like zap DMs, just need to get that integrated into the UI
Was always confused by that too. In primal I cant just quick zap a set amount of sats without the comment which is another annoyance.
