There is a narrative that salt and sugar are unhealthy even toxic ; this narrative can be seen to be false when you know that oral rehydration treatment and intravenous fluid treatment consist of only salt and sugar. Also breast milk contains salt and sugar .

I think that is a false comparison. Babies have different needs than full grown adults.

Babies have to grow, but the cellular metabolism ( biochemical processing ) is 99% the same.

That obese woman grew quite well.

Sugar is an umbrella term. Not all sugars are equal. Details matter.

High-fructose corn syrup bad.

Glucose not bad.

Your body even metabolizes them differently.

Interestingly HFCS has been found to contain starch so I will concede on that.

The entire conversation is very complex. We can’t unequivocally say sugar is good. It’s an umbrella term. They aren’t injecting “sugar” intravenously.
