I think your right. Also apparently, Jan Å vankmajer was a big influence on Terry Gilliam, and, I donāt know for sure, but I donāt think itās a reach to suggest that Monty Python was an influence on filmmakers like Burton and David Lynch, and later Anderson and others. Thereās a definite lineage I think. I love it too!
Norman McLaren who we looked at a few weeks back also used a lot of stop motion in his work. šæ
I need to look into this topic deeper. Terry Gilliam is also one of my biggest "cinematic loves" (sorry, I think this is incorrect stylistically in english but cant find better expression now). I always thought what a unique creator he is - being one of Monty Python's founders,, so having these close links and sensitivity for comedy, broadly speaking. And at the same time be able to see tragedy in human condition, and create profound and moving films. And these two elements ' comedy and tragedy - are veryboften interlinked in his films. Very unique. Thank you for what you are doing with your channel :) much appreciated !
I love Terry Gilliam too! I was going to choose something else but Iāve decided on Brazil for this weekās film instead. I havenāt watched it in some time so Iām looking forward to seeing it again.
Thanks for your kind comments and support!
