Hi everyone! This week’s film is one of Ingmar Bergman’s best and one of the most influential films of its time. The Seventh Seal is a stunning allegory of man’s search for meaning and a work of stark visual poetry.

If you haven’t seen it yet, then you’re in for a real treat!

If you have, watch it again! it's well worth it 💀

Enjoy! 🍿📽🎬

Sorry for the slow response, Alexander.

I know what you mean about their relationship, it’s dysfunctional to say the least, and it can be difficult to watch at times. I think that’s what makes it such a great documentary though, and what makes the Maysles brothers such wonderful documentarians, their films are always so wonderfully balanced, so funny and yet so sad, and despite their subjects appearing so vulnerable, they always seem to depict them with great respect.

Have you seen Salesmen by the Maysles brothers? I think it has a similar feel, tragic and hopeful.

🍿It’s Friday! 🥳

Continuing with our season of documentaries, this week we’re showing TITICUT FOLLIES (1967) directed by Frederick Wiseman!

The documentary is a stark and harrowing portrayal of the conditions that existed at the State Prison for the Criminally Insane at Bridgewater, Massachusetts. 🍿🧡🎬

Have a great weekend! 🧡🍿🎬

Morricone Island is another good show — all motion picture soundtracks. It’s not on the summer schedule but again you can listen to the archives.

The Most Recent Archives page shows more shows than on the schedule. So much great music!

Glad you like it!

😁 We’ll have a think about how it might work. Thanks for the idea 💡🍿

It’s an interesting idea. Not thought about having guests before.

Hi everyone!

This week’s film is Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky.

Perhaps one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, Stalker is not only beautifully shot, its slow meditative pace takes us deep into the human psyche where, as in all Tarkovsky's work, spiritual crisis is the theme: Tarkovsky wrote: 'Whether they are good or bad, in the final analysis my films are about one thing: the extreme manifestation of faith in a moral debt, the fight for it ... I am interested in a hero, going on to the end, regardless of everything, for only such a man can triumph.'

Enjoy! 🍿📽🎬

We love Lynch too, so yes, we’ll definitely get to all his films at some point!

I listened to an interview he did a few days ago where he talked about his collaborations with composer Angelo Badalamenti — I’ll add the link. He just seems so lovely and generous, and obviously his movies are incredible.

Thank you so much for all the zaps too!⚡️🤯 very much appreciated!

Here’s the link, it’s on the BBC, I can’t find it anywhere else, but hopefully it will work for you:

Hi everyone!

Has it really taken us 14 weeks to get to the inimitable David Lynch?

Here is the fantastic Blue Velvet (1985).

This dark, violent, hilarious, terrifying, mysterious noir has lost none of its power. It takes us from nostalgia to horror, from suburban gardens, to dreamy nightclubs; there is a severed human ears, psychopathic criminals, Roy Orbison’s dreamy voice, and Frederick Elmes's drifting camera and his kaleidoscopic use of color. And then there’s Frank….

Enjoy! 🍿📽🎬
