Behind the scenes:
Meeting with some university executives IRL tomorrow to discuss the benefits (and necessity) of a long-term Bitcoin strategy.
Wish me luck and/or pray for me.

You aren't the one that needs the luck and/or prayer. It sounds like they do. π
Pray for them lmao

Good luck, Dr Jeff
Do you believe it is the best money?
UCCS or are you expanding your scope beyond the beautiful state of Colorado?
I know the leadership at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I think they would be ready to have a conversation.
Good luck. At least one of them will be thinking you are a snake oil salesman.
University executives? Good luck with that!

I'm trying to get my university to allow us to save for our retirement via the bitcoin ETFs in our 401k/403b accounts through Fidelity's BrokerageLink.
A lot of red tape, and it's annoying. I wish I could speak to someone directly. At this point, I'm considering emailing our president directly and hoping that he reads it and thinks about mentioning it to the board.
Any recommendations?
I would email the president and/or CFO and/or HR directly and push the issue.
I'll try our president + CFO.
My HR directed me to contact our Fidelity contacts, and then the Fidelity people went back to my HR people to contact the board π.
Hope your meeting goes well π«‘
When i ran into a similar issue with my 401k, i took care of myself first. Do a rollover ira and but your favorite bitcoin etf there. Ymmv
Yes. I was going to do that, but I noticed that my 401(k) lets me buy FBTC/IBIT although it's technically not permitted. On the other hand, my 403(b) doesn't allow me to buy spot bitcoin ETFs, but it allowed me to buy bitcoin futures (BITO), despite both plans being with the same employer.
I called Fidelity to ask if they knew why I could only buy futures in the 403(b) and not spot like in the 401(k), and the guy told me that... "well... you're technically not supposed to have access to any bitcoin ETFs/futures in either account, but I'm not going to say anything about it", which was awkward and funny.
In the meantime, I've just stayed silent because I didn't want to bring it to anyone's attention.
That being said, I'm now trying to get this to be formally approved so that other people can save in a bitcoin ETF at my workplace.

Tell them you really like Trump, please post video response.
Be sure to work this in somehow. π

What is your ultimate goal? Bitcoin as a store of wealth, or Bitcoin as a main street medium of exchange?
It can't be both.
Says who?
People can choose to store their long-term savings in bitcoin and also spend bitcoin today. It doesn't need to be mutually exclusive.
Suppose I bought some bitcoin back in 2023 around $16k USD (or whatever it was). Most of it will be held for long-term savings, but why couldn't I take $100 of X and spend it today? My purchasing power has already increased significantly.
