Everyone in the world already has IDs. They are catalogued in silo’d government servers. This leads to information asymmetry which is the bane of markets.
What if your preferred incentive? That everyone operates anonymously?

That’s too hard for most people too.
We need to decentralize and proliferate private relays. And the clients need to be much better at managing them.
I think Discord, for all its faults, has this pretty well wired.
A. that is an appeal to tradition. invalid argument on its face.
B. yes. anons are great. verify everything.
also you did not respond to my points. you made a tangential derivative statement and then launched a straw man at me.
Why do you guys do this. just engage subjects. makes conversations much easier.
what is there to engage with?
> tyranical lil mini dictatorships.
we already have tyranical dictatorships. Nostr is just an open standard. it opens reputation up and removes barriers to entry.
the alternative is the closed walled gardens we operate in already.
anonymity is a larp. you can’t have markets with anonymity
we had markets everywhere in the world before there was state issued ID. your premise is faulty and the point I asked you to engage with is that the urge to safety and security and comfort is a standard social engineering lever. It is used as I described above. You can deny that it happens or agree that it does but ignoring it means you are not here to have a conversation. Dont know what your purpose is in communicating at all if you just want to broadcast and not engage.
anonymity is a larp . . . wow. dunno how to even approach this. . .You cant be invisible but you can keep your private shid private. thats why we wear clothes.
anonymity of your finances is one thing
you cannot operate in the world being anonymous ie. no identity because the world is based on trust (funny right)
I do and have for ages. I literally need ID 2 or 3 times a year. why do you need my name to sell me something? My company is numbered and owned by numbered so clients dont even know my name. My socials are under different handles two or three deep. so you are wrong. I have proof of work on my side. Its possible, you just have to care enough to do it. The world existed and functioned and had markets before gov ID. why is this so hard to comprehend.
Nothing is perfect and your clothes dont make you invisible but that is no reason not to wear clothes.
Your basic argument comes down to.1. Thats how things are tho - appeal to tradition and 2. You cant be fully anon so dont try at all.
strange position to take. whats the motivation? Are you working on some centralizer project or nostr Identity management scheme or something? Drank the kool aid from a project doing the same maybe? either way the argument is flawed on structural basis and defeatist in its epilogue
You wrote a lot of things ignoring the fact that you explicitly rely on nyms to operate in the market.
You never interface with clients in your company? Suppliers?
You need nyms to operate in the market. That’s the only point I’m making. You can’t be anonymous.
and nostr is an open standard that seems almost custom designed for censorship and surveillance btw. You are living through the embryonic stages now but the same powers and people who brought centralization elsewhere are working here to put as much functionality in relays instead of client as they can.
its centralizing fast under the banner of safety and trust while so many of you cheer. Oh well. you will soon see. Be well. Don't be too disappointed in the humans when this comes clear. They really dont know any better.
