Is there an intersection between Bitcoin and Faith? I don't believe so, but this is a very well written article.

Definitely seems to attract a lot of religious people. I don't understand it, but to each their own. I'm going to save this to read for later.

Bitcoin is for anyone, including Christians.

Solid use case that hasn't been adopted is churches funding missionaries in other countries with Bitcoin

What I was trying to say is I don't understand the people who come to Bitcoin from a religious angle. Or the people who try to hook religion into Bitcoin. I don't give a shit who uses Bitcoin.

The story of Satoshi is pretty crazy. I used to consider myself an atheist, and while that was naturally changing due to factors other than Bitcoin, there is something about the way Bitcoin unfolded and the ideas that it can represent which feels like divine intervention.

At the very least, it makes you ask a lot of questions about what you truly value and what we are capable of overcoming which can lead you down a path towards faith.

It definitely alters your worldview. It seems to cause people to refine themselves in a number of ways

I definitely will admit that Bitcoin did change the way that I looked at a lot of things but didn't lead me to be religious.

Pretty unrelated but given its popularity and relevance you should read the Bible (NASB95) cover to cover still

ahhhh not sure what the difficulty is here...

maybe you should read the bible?

I have. It's an okay story I guess. I still don't get it.

I have this book on my audiobook bookshelf to listen to at some point. I wanted to get to it this summer, but I've just been listening to so many podcasts 😂 I'll try to move it up

Bitcoin can be a spiritual awakening. Many such cases.

yeah, you wouldnt.

I will give this a read, but there are lots of tenets of Christianity that are tenets of Bitcoin’s ethos as well. Many of the things that Bitcoin will hopefully solve are the callings of Christianity. The overlap is undeniable, and money is mentioned many times in the Bible. A proper discussion on this topic requires a non-post discussion for at least an hour. That being said, the two should not be conflated as the same thing. A nuanced discussion, and thanks for sharing.

Going to give a talk at the Thank God for Bitcoin conference next week that touches on this very topic. I'm taking a different approach that is applicable to how Christians should engage with technology in general. Hopefully I'll be able to make it make sense.

Will that be recorded or streamed? I'd love to listen/watch.

Also, maybe you can purple pill this author!

Probably recorded? I'm going to see if npub1v68jng7h8575muuzp02u78armas6k79r2aswp7v6un59g88ka4ys54j8qh will let me re-publish it to the podcast feed.

Keep your faith out of my btc…just kidding, but not really 🤷‍♂️🤝🤷‍♂️

Bitcoin is just code and can't care either way 🥹

Thats definitely the beauty of it 🫂🫶

Amen🙏🏼

Money intersects pretty much everything else, so should we be surprised that it intersects faith as well?

The Bible has quite a lot to say about money, since it plays such a major role in the lives of all people, believers or not. Moreover, while Bitcoin may not have been specifically designed to adhere to biblical principles, it certainly happens to uphold them far more than any fiat currency.

> Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

—Matthew 6:19–21

I think that Bitcoin intersects with Christianity very well in some places, certainly more than fiat. Lately I've been following Bible discussions on Nostr and it's a salve from the dog-eat-dog nihilism of Fiatnam

Interesting take, thanks for sharing
