I made a rare trip into Springfield this week, had some spare time between errands, and stopped by Just for Him for some pipe tobacco.

Got 2 ounces of Longbottom Leaf to refill the jar I keep on hand.

I also got a tin of Capstan blue to try, but I don't plan on smoking it any time soon. It will stay sealed and age several months before I pop the tin and try it.

Like Bitcoin, cellaring tobacco is a low time preference hobby.

I still have some GL Pease tins… haven’t broken out my dunhill pipe in YEARS 😅

I’ll have to give that one a try. I really like East Farthing. My daily smoking tobacco is Sutliff Rum and Maple, I guess I need to find a new daily smoker.

I also like Eastfarthing. Now with the Sutliff shutdown, I've been saving back the half jar of it I have left.

They have a whole line of Middle Earth named blends and several are crossover blends kind of in the same style as Eastfarthing.

Pardon my ignorance.

I am a huge Tolkien fan and an familiar with the pipeweed names. My question is, are the name from the books based on real world varieties or are the names of the local varieties based on the books.

Tolkien real world sometimes snuck into his writing...

These are modern blends that have been named after the varieties in the book.
