What do you use to record your guest podcasts? My riverside.fm membership expired and paying $400ish rn doesn't feel appealing atm. Though, I really love what I'd just started to discover is their ai content creation mixer feature or whatever it is called. #asknostr

OBS

You have a podcast and that's what you use?

Yes and no. πŸ‘»

But the ones I work with -

Guests and host interact on - hivetalk/jisti/cornychat.

Which is then live streamed, using OBS, to zapstream( which automatically plugs as Nostr streams on clients like amethyst and nostria)

OBS also records the content.

Oh gosh, that looks like an all day technical rabbit hole I may try to down and end up lost... I need something for private video conversations that I can later extract micro content from as a start. What should I use?

OBS

I don't do guest podcasts but when we do the V4V Roundtable nostr:nprofile1qqs2ksh5mzh8lafxc75em45lkeadam83aj9wjs0e5ghs28zcy0r4ejcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerfw36x7tnsw43z77cjwfy usually uses vdo ninja (I think)

I use a free, open source DAW for lightning thrashes, recorded episodes called Ardour and mixxx for live streams on my own icecast server.

I don't know if this will be helpful to you or not, but if you're ever super bored, I've put some videos together about how I do things.

He's back to streamyeard now. Cleanfeed is also popular.

VDO Ninja for your private video calls, it uses WebRTC and it totally private.

OBS to record everything. Eg Your own camera and mic....and bring the VDO Ninja feed for your guest.

I use it for my podcast and its super reliable and high quality. OBS can simply record to you hard drive, stream live, or do both.

If it’s just for recording I think you can use

https://vanilla.hivetalk.org/active

Or

https://nostrnests.com

Do either of those have private room options and are encrypted, if I don't wanna stream it and can I retrieve the recording?

things have changed on both of them since I last used them so their maintainers are gonna have to answer these questions nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 nostr:npub18pudjhdhhp2v8gxnkttt00um729nv93tuepjda2jrwn3eua5tf5s80a699

Thank you! I appreciate you tagging folks and your support. πŸ™πŸ»

I use OBS to record and bring everything together. VDO ninja to online call your guest and bring it into OBS.

There are plenty of free DAWs out there. I've seen Waveform get talked about a bunch. OBS would work fine but then you have video file. Not sure if you're working with video or audio. Mac or pc. But yeah there are tons of free and or open source options out there.

What does the content creation mixer do? Is it just about balancing levels? Or?

Mac and yes video ideally. The ai thing identifies good nuggets and automatically creates video shorts.

Opus clip does that but I'm not sure if you'd be able to upload the video itself or you'd have to post the video and then have it generate the clips of your content. OBS is your best bet for actually recording your video though. Most straight forward and you'd easily be able to find tutorials to learn the program.
