It is harmful content though. It harm’s Google’s bottom line, control of internet infrastructure, and their general authoritarian outlook.

Building up a FOSS driven alternative model has been my play for the last few years. I just run it in parallel, ready to welcome those who are done with centralised platforms.

I didn't watch the video or form an opinion about whether this is true or not, yet I have still noticed the feeling in myself of: "wouldn't surpriise me"

the new regime is not going to give you a bureaucratic face. it will not appear before you with regulations.

the new regime dictates the size and shape of your containment, and not your actions. you're already inside the pen... it just shrinks or funnels you to the end state

nudge

This niche would be a great place for a nostr alternative.

Is it correct you dropped NIP-71 support?

Yes, it is only kind 1 at the moment. This was done in order to allow greater reach of videos since all clients support kind 1

That approach won't help the adoption of kind 21 and 22 in those apps nor the growth of your app. Why not use a hybrid model with a NIP-71 first approach? I'm trying not to be salty here, only constructive (and yes biased) how we should embrace other events kinds to grow Nostr more broadly on the long-term. There is so much more than only kind 1 stuff.

nip71 needs to support parameterized replaceable events, so videos can be changed if we want it to be properly utilized for a youtube-like or other video dominated platform where creators have greater control. Otherwise, it's no different from kind 1 besides less adoption. Unless, I have completely missed where replaceable events are supported, despite no mention of it in the spec?

nostr can fix this

will*

I was gonna say "nostr fixes this" then I remembered that we don't really have a decent video platform yet. Streaming is nice. So is uploading videos to some of the apps available but it's far from anything even close to YT,

Ya my phrasing is aspirational but definitely not past tense.

We have Blossom servers to distribute the video content.

We have NIP-71 with kinds 21 and 22 for video events.

What we need it more / better clients which integrates this.

Agreed! We have all the tools ready to go

Interesting development, considering google is going to lock down Android with apps only from KYC'd devs.

The fence is closing
