We have a big issue in our culture where we can’t seem to imagine an egalitarian interaction.

I tell people that my husband is not my leader and they then assume that means that I’m controlling him. I tell people that I’m not into being controlled in bed and they then assume that means I’m some sort of dominatrix. I tell people that I am not above others on some hierarchy and they then assume that I am unsuccessful.

Such a shame that we can’t envision cooperative, voluntary, peaceful interactions with others.
