ive been thinking about my internet use lately.

i want to change it.

i spent some time in Albania. in some of the urban areas, the municipal water would turn on for 2 hours a day. so the houses and apartment buildings had water tanks on the roof. when the water was on, you could use it. and when the water was off, you used the water collected into the roof tank.

i want my internet use to be similar.

I to would like a rooftop tank of internet.

Pirated media is kind of like that except it doesn't get used up.

Unless you're hard drive fails and I guess in this analogy you'd need to replace your tank.

I do mirror drives. So like always having 2 tanks half full.

Torture that metaphor.

Nostr, podcasts, audiobooks, and ebooks can also be used that way.

I hate it when online frens try to improve themselves by pulling away. Might be best though, hard to say

Nostr used like email used to be on dial up. A local relay that collects notes at an interval. You can respond, but responses to yours won't arrive until the next received period. Slow-nostr.

Using the internet with intention and purpose.

Good luck with that . I will not changed anything .😁

How does one accomplish this 🤔

Do you have a specific reason for wanting your internet use to be like this?

I've often thought about this. Having a phone with no Sim that is wifi only so I can only get online when I'm home felt like an idea but then it has no utility outside of the house for navigating or problem solving. I use brave as my browser and put restrictions on all social media (except Nostr) which has limited my use a lot.

For me I want to be more mindfully present ony life and my phone was pulling me out of it.

Piracy makes you more deliberate about what you watch. It also hides your habits if you choose your software carefully.
