For me, understanding emotions is one reason why I read poetry— the best poems help us glimpse the paradox of a moment or experience. But mostly— I read because I love language.
I’ve always found the term “emotional intelligence” fascinating. How smart are these creatures we call emotions— some dominate while others lay dormant, some are influenced by our body chemistry, some by genetics perhaps…
