the truth can be critical. weak minds also think every negative feedback is criticism.
There’s nothing wrong with the truth, if it’s holistic. If the “truth” for one person is pointing out 1 negative/flaw among 10 other positives, that’s a partial truth, which is false. I find that many people get obsessed with a single flaw and it blinds them from the good qualities in many things. A strong mind takes into account all elements, both good and bad
Online, people (at least true for myself, sadly) tend to blow the negative out of proportion too. Especially when it comes to larger accounts. IMO 🫤
I think it’s an ego thing, but yeah, these black or white labels are dangerously. Everything in life is a spectrum.

and i think it takes intentional practice to reprogram this tendency

the more time that goes by, the more i suspect it has something to do with consciously choosing that way of thinking every morning.
Yeah, it’s essentially cognitive training. Just analyzing a misconstrued thought and correcting it until it’s more habitual 🤷♀️
it also has the side effect of reducing asshole factor.
and on the side of the person being criticized, the single flaw they focus on is also what they don't like about themselves that is being magnified by another.
since we cannot control others, it is better to work on the self and figure out why someone's truth or half truth has such a great effect on us.
