It's remarkable, how the French people stand up for their opinions. People from some other European countries behave like cattle and accept every decision made by the political 'elite'.

I'm not French and I admit it, they have balls, they are the only ones, it must be something genetic.

The rest of Europe are sheep.

Maaaan, You speak from my soul!! πŸ’―πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ But it has nothing to do with genetics, but rather with the upbringing of parents! πŸ’ͺπŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸ’―

Thats because Germans are really slaved up in there minds... there made already the parents slaves...and a slave will raise up a slave!

Not many nations have or celebrate #Bastille #Day but world eats french frys

Which arrondissement ?

I don't know, it's the pension reform protests.

My arrondissement was quiet, though you could hear the protests from the roof terrace. I am still waiting for reliable news. The situation is highly tense. Politically irresponsible actions coupled with extremely harsh police intervention have led to an explosive situation that is difficult to assess. The pension reform (as I said) is only the trigger. The president is acting more than insensitively here at a moment when many people are facing major economic challenges. Even if the pension system as it exists in France requires changes, the current approach is the wrong way to go.

Even tho it’s bad for you guys I am happy you make a stand to try and evoke change. My country we just take it and do nothing.

And to think it will only get worse. IMO, pension reform is a symptom of a much deeper problem, which includes, (historically speaking) building wealth from cheap inputs / resources.

The chickens are coming home to roost.

There is so much going on! But politics lacks the courage for a real system change. Not only in France. It doesn't really make any difference who governs. The focus is always on the preservation of the position of power and not on the creation of a fair living environment for the people, which is, of course, extremely difficult and complicated. Of course, these problems always have a political, social and economic dimension.

I hope so too!

The political system in France is made such that the president can override the parliament in that the president just skips important checks and balances. But it’s a double-edged sword.
