I ran ethernet from my attic to my basement and it isn't working. I re-crimped the basement end twice and next I'll re-crimp the attic end. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Sucks. Right when you think you are finished.

At first, I thought you had written Ethereum... ๐Ÿ˜… maybe your ethernet cable got confused too. Maybe try calling it bithernet or something and it will start working properly ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿคฃ

Any chance you might have used the cheap copper clad aluminum cabling? If so you might need to re-pull proper pure copper cabling. If you cut a wire and the middle is silver colored you got CCA

Is the ethernet connected to the same port as before? Is it s network issue?

I don't think so. I tried several open ports

Maybe damaged the cable during pulling? Remember that half the wires are redundant. You only need good wires on pins 1, 2, 3, 6.

This isn't true for gigabit and up. Only 100 and slower is 2 pair.

If he messed up part of it it should auto negotiate at 100 instead of failing.

How long is the pull? Did you follow one of the 568 wiring patterns? It does matter, any straight through is not equal. The longer the run the more it matters.

this is good intel. The pull is about 100ft. I don't know what 568 means. I just used this for both ends:

Oh I see 568 in the picture lol

Yep, 568B on both ends is the correct pinout that most pros will use.

Did you have passthrough connectors where the wires come out the end of the connector then get snipped during the crimp process?

Thatโ€™s why I always test my cables immediately after making them. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Nothing worse than thinking you are done and can let your fingers heal from making several cables then having to remake some of them.

If I redo the pull I'm going to crimp and test before I try to pull the cable at all
