Do people use hashtags on Nostr?

Why?

What’s the most value you get from it?

The targeted group of people see it? Linuxstr for example. I would wager nostr is more linux user heavy than X but still probably less than a third of the users on here. So its better to target the group you want to speak to.

it helps to search for topics and likeminded nostriches ☺️

I don’t use them, or at least not very often. Am not sure if it brings any value. I might be wrong though. Time will tell.

I use them to follow topics I'm interested in (with Amethyst)

Vibe coding forum filters. https://theorangeparty.org and https://sovereignmotorcompany.com use them for querying.

Post discoverability, useful if you don't have a lot of followers

Mostly I use #asknostr

Just hope more people will see it

Aside from visibility, can be really helpful for searchability.

You can use a hashtag to make your best posts on a topic searchable, so you can find them more easily later, or showcase them in a discussion about personal history on a topic, or whatever.

Not really, I tried searching once in the beginning and at least on Amethyst it didn't seem like it required hashtags for those things to show up.

I have been tempted to use them sometimes cause it's sounded like a fun thing to add, like after a funny mom story, to add "JustMomThings" or something like that 🤣
